Superintendent Search Updates

Press Release – December 15, 2021

PUSD Board of Education Announces Finalist for Superintendent

Following an extensive search for a new superintendent, the Plumas Unified School District Board of  Trustees is pleased to announce the finalist for the position of superintendent has been identified. It is  anticipated that ratification of the appointment of William Roderick as the district’s next superintendent will  occur on January 5, 2022, at the regular meeting of the Board of Education.

The board made its decision with input gathered from parents, staff, and community members regarding  the qualities of the next superintendent. Rick Brown and Tom Changon of Leadership Associates  assisted the board in its search.

Mr. Roderick is the Senior Director of Student Services at the Lake County Office of Education. An  educator since 2000, he began his career as a high school geography teacher. He later became an  athletic director, vice-principal, and principal in the Placer Union High School District. He served for  twelve years as the principal of Middletown High School in Lake County. He also coached football,  wrestling, and track and field.

During his tenure at Middletown High School, the Middletown community was devastated by the Valley  Fire. Mr. Roderick led the school district’s recovery efforts, including getting the high school reopened  and providing support for students, families, and staff.

He believes his duty as an educator is to provide every student with the best chances of success and, as  an administrator, to foster the learning environment for students through our teachers. Additionally, he  believes in community involvement and community service and has served as a school district trustee,  and currently serves on the board of the Yuba Community College District, representing Lake, Colusa,  and Glenn Counties.

Mr. Roderick and his wife, Shaun, have two daughters in college and plan to relocate to Plumas County,  where he looks forward to spending his free time pursuing his hobbies of hunting, fishing, and golf.

Over the next six months, Mr. Roderick will work with the board and PUSD leadership to build upon the  work accomplished during Superintendent Oestreich’s exemplary career.
