Plumas County Office of Education/Unified School District is considering various scenarios for returning to school in 2020/21.  This document will be used to identify a common set of expectations and supports needed to help each school site to return to instruction as safely and effectively as possible.  

The four committees are as follows:

1. When reopening schools, districts should consider:

  • Multiple questions

2. Prepare for the possibility that the start of the 2020-21 school year may need to be delayed.

  • Options for delayed start, winter break, longer days

3. Create plans to restore operations in phases.

  • Activities needed for return and the order in which they should be implemented

4. Develop a continuum of strategies for implementation of social distancing is required.

  • Creating small class sizes, bell schedules, staggering start times, recess, lunch periods

5. Develop plans for classroom and distance learning as an alternative to school closures.

  • Limit number of students on campus

6. Consider making work assignments and/or accommodations to protect employees in high-risk groups.

  • High risk limitations, placements and reception areas

7.Collaborate with employee associations when developing plans that impact the work of their members.

  • Decision making, staffing and workload adjustments

8. Develop communication plans.
