All schools closed March 4, 2024

Good morning everyone,


Due to the lingering conditions from the weekend storm, all PCOE/PUSD schools will be CLOSED on Monday, March 4, 2024. This decision is for the safety of our students, staff, and parents, as campuses are still feeling the effects of the weekend storm and have not all been cleared. In addition, we have many students who walk to schools and bus stops, and although the main roads have been plowed, not all side streets are cleared.


We take the decision to close schools very seriously, looking at multiple sources of information to make these decisions. Thank you for your patience as we work to make sure our schools are safe for students, staff, and parents.


We anticipate all PCOE/PUSD schools will be open on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the normal start time.

School Opening and Closure information for March 4, 2024

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm sharing an important announcement regarding school closures and start times. Due to the lingering conditions from the weekend storm, the following schools will be on a two-hour delayed start for Monday, March 4, 2024.

Chester Elementary
Chester Junior Senior High School
Greenville Elementary
Greenville High School
Quincy Junior Senior High
Quincy Elementary Pioneer Campus
Quincy Elementary Alder Campus
Quincy Junior Senior High School
Plumas County Community School

Due to the power outage in Portola and surrounding communities and the need to complete snow removal on the Portola campuses, the following schools will be closed on March 4, 2024.

Portola Junior Senior High School
Jim Beckwourth High School

Good afternoon, Plumas families,

After looking at current weather and road conditions and forecasted overnight conditions, we have decided to cancel school at all PCOE/PUSD schools for Monday, February 5, 2024.

Our snow removal teams will be working to clear campuses tomorrow during the day. In addition, this allows road crews and our contracted companies to clear roads and parking lots so students and staff can safely travel to and from school.

I appreciate your patience, and please be safe when we return to school on Tuesday.

Two-hour Delayed Start - Chester Elementary and Chester JRSR High

Good morning, PUSD families and staff,

Due to mechanical issues with the bus, Chester Elementary School and Chester JRSR High School will be on a two-hour delayed start. I appreciate your patience.

Delayed Start Information:
• On a delayed start, school start time is two hours later than the normal start time. For example, if your school normally starts at 8:10 AM, on a delayed start school will start at 10:10 AM.
• Delayed bus stop pickup time is two hours later than your normal time. For example, if your normal bus pickup is at 7:05 AM then a two-hour delay will be 9:05 AM
• The bus route home drop-off time should remain the same as normal. However, some delays may occur due to road conditions
