Meet the Nominees:
Mrs. Tania A. Hutchins - Portola Jr/Sr High School
Mrs. Hutchins is renowned for her deep compassion and commitment to her students. She creates a rigorous Spanish program while building strong, supportive relationships. Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Hutchins is a constant presence at school events, offering heartfelt support to her students. Known for her tireless dedication, she’s respected by colleagues and adored by students.
Ms. Brandi Murray - Portola Jr/Sr High School
Ms. Murray, a respected science teacher at Portola High School, is celebrated for her engaging and challenging lessons. She fosters a structured and respectful classroom environment and maintains high expectations, encouraging her students to excel academically. Her commitment extends beyond teaching, as she communicates regularly with parents and mentors new teachers, making her a valued leader and mentor.
Ms. Erica Perdue - Quincy Jr/Sr High School
Ms. Perdue, who teaches AP Literature, AP Language, and Pre-AP English 10, is known for her ability to simplify complex concepts and create a dynamic learning atmosphere. Her initiatives, like the "Book in Common" program, unite students and the community in a shared love for learning. Ms. Perdue’s dedication to student success and her innovative teaching methods make her an invaluable asset to QJSHS.
The finalist for PUSD Teacher of the Year will be announced at the June 21 board meeting, and will be representing Plumas County at the state level Teacher of the Year awards. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating these exceptional educators and to stay tuned for the big announcement!
