Chester Year of the Watershed students visit Kings Creek Falls

hiking to Kings Creek Falls

6th graders from Chester Elementary hiked up to view the 30 foot drop of Kings Creek Falls in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Year of the Watershed for our Outdoor Education program, 6th grade students in every community learn how and where headwaters feed their local waterways. Water from Kings Creek feeds into the Upper Feather Watershed, making its way to the Warner Valley near Chester.

The Upper Feather Watershed alone supplies approximately 3.2 million acre-feet per year for downstream water users, according to the National Park Service.

It takes a dedicated team of teachers, staff, and volunteers to bring these unforgettable learning experiences to our students, thank you for all you do!
