School Closures and Delays Information for Staff

Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. At times, school closures or delays may be necessary due to severe weather, natural disasters, or utility failures that create unsafe conditions, including unsafe travel or facility issues.

If specific schools or buildings are affected, a decision will be made about whether it is safe to hold school or conduct regular business. Staff will be notified of closures or delays via ParentSquare.

Start-Time Delays

If there is a delayed start time, staff members are expected to arrive at their workstation as soon as it is safely possible, but no later than the delayed start time unless other arrangements are approved by a supervisor.

Road Closures

If road closures prevent staff from reaching school or an alternative work site, they will still be paid if they can work from home.

School or Building Closures

11-Month Employees

Eleven (11) Month Employees: In the event of a facility closure, the adopted 2025/26 Instructional Calendar includes April 3rd, April 24th, and May 22nd, as built in Snow Days. School will be closed for all 11-month employees, at specified site(s). In the event of the first school closure day, school will be in session on April 3, 2026. In the event of a second school closure day, school will be in session on April 24, 2026. A third closure would have school to be in session on May 22, 2026.

In the event that all snow days have been utilized, 11-month certificated employees are assigned to work from home.

Certificated and Classified are required to remain available during regular work hours for reassignment to their work site (should conditions improve), or to an alternative work site location. Principals and supervisors will provide a list of optional activities that can be performed if the employee is unavailable to report to the work site. If you choose not to perform any of these tasks, you may request personal necessity leave, flex time, or time for time / compensatory time.

12-Month Employees

In the event of a facility closure, twelve (12) month employees should report to work, conditions and safety permitting. If 12-month employees are unable to report to work safely they must contact their supervisor and request personal necessity leave, flex time, compensatory time off, or to work at an alternate work site with approval of their supervisor. Built in Snow Days are regular work days for 12-month employees unless prior leave arrangements have been made with their supervisor.

Note: All twelve (12) month custodians, maintenance workers, and transportation employees are required to be on site or reassigned by the Principal and/or the Maintenance Supervisor. Your anticipated adherence to these procedures is greatly appreciated.
