Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach that helps students succeed not only in academics, but also in social and emotional growth. Instead of focusing only on discipline when problems come up, PBIS is proactive—it teaches and supports positive behaviors so that every student can thrive.

PBIS in action at our schools means:

  • Clear and consistent behavior expectations

  • Teaching students what those expectations look like in everyday situations

  • Recognizing and celebrating positive choices

  • Using fair and consistent consequences when expectations aren’t met
