FCMAT Initial Comprehensive Review published

Message from our County Appointed Administrator Rich DuVarney

The district has received its Fiscal Crisis & Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) initial Comprehensive Review, which is now complete and published on FCMAT’s website. The report is attached here and also available on our website under Fiscal Updates.

FCMAT will be here for the February 11th Board Meeting to do a presentation on the report.

The review identifies five key areas where the district remains responsible for continued improvement: Community Relations & Governance, Student Achievement, Financial Management, Personnel Management, and Facilities. The report serves as an important guide for identifying areas of growth and directing improvement efforts across the district.

It's important to note that the findings reflect the work and conditions across multiple departments that have brought us to the point of insolvency, not what our current situation is. While the report is unflinching in its description of the district’s recent history, it also provides a detailed roadmap for recovery, with specific steps suggested to make improvements in all five key areas.

Moving forward, departments will use the report to support the ongoing progress being made, and to address additional identified areas for improvement.

As a reminder, this is an ongoing review process. FCMAT will return annually to conduct follow-up reviews to assess progress, with updated reports issued each year. Beginning this year, FCMAT will start the review process earlier—in May instead of August. More detailed schedules will be shared later this spring.
