Learning Communities for School Success (LCSSP) Grant
Welcome to the Learning Communities for School Success Program (LCSSP) page! This program is designed to support student success by addressing issues such as absenteeism, behavioral challenges, and barriers to academic achievement. The grant funding enables our district to implement key initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being and academic outcomes for students.
What is the LCSSP Grant?
The LCSSP grant provides funding to school districts like ours to create and sustain programs that foster safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. Through these efforts, we aim to reduce chronic absenteeism, support student mental health, and improve engagement both in and out of the classroom.
How Are LCSSP Funds Used?
At Plumas Unified School District, LCSSP funds are allocated to the following critical initiatives:
- MTSS Leads
- Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Leads have been hired at each school site to provide targeted interventions for students. MTSS Leads work closely with teachers, counselors, and families to address students' social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. They coordinate Tier 1 (school-wide), Tier 2 (small group), and Tier 3 (individual) interventions to ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Peer Educator Groups
- High school students participate in Peer Educator Groups, such as the Peer Improvement Movement, where they lead initiatives to promote positive school culture and student well-being. These groups work with younger students in elementary schools, creating programs that emphasize anti-bullying, drug and alcohol prevention, mental health awareness, and attendance improvement. Peer educators are role models for their peers and help create a supportive school environment.
- Triple P Positive Parenting Program
- The Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) offers free online courses for parents and caregivers. These evidence-based courses provide strategies for managing common parenting challenges, enhancing communication with children, and promoting healthy development. Whether you're seeking ways to improve family relationships or guidance on how to support your child academically and emotionally, the Triple P courses offer practical solutions that fit into your schedule.
How Can Families Get Involved?
- Sign Up for Triple P: Parents and caregivers can access free online Triple P Parenting courses by contacting your child’s school or through the links provided in school newsletters and flyers. These courses are available to all families across the district.
- Join the Peer Movement: High school students interested in becoming peer educators can apply to join the Peer Improvement Movement and help lead initiatives to improve school culture.
